The base policy is a daily in-hospital indemnity benefit which pays a specified amount for each day an insured person is confined to the hospital as the result of a policy-specified accident or illness. It also features:

  • benefits for full-time, part-time, hourly, seasonal and temporary workers (and eligible family members)
  • availability for any size group enrolling more than five employees
  • designed for companies with medical plans with a minimum deductible of $1,000
  • no coinsurance, co-pays, deductibles or waiting periods
  • minimum payroll-deducted premium of $10 a month
  • benefits paid in addition to other insurance the insured may have

No ID cards are required. Although they wouldn't receive double benefits when doing so, employees are still free to access any provider for care. Employers provide, either online or during enrollment, a list of facilities employees can access to be eligible for double benefits.

There is no maximum issue age for employees and their adult dependents including common-law marriage partners, domestic partners or civil union partners. Children under age 26 can be insured.
